As I’ve discussed in previous blogs, branding your business is vital to establishing your prominence in a particular market segment. For example, the name Rolex is synonymous with quality craftsmanship as well as the word “expensive.” Being known for quality is something we should strive for, and though we do not necessarily want to be known as expensive, there are certain market segments that do find high prices desirable.
Whatever image you create for your business should be reflected in your online presence and make you stand out from your competitors. If you’ve ever driven down an interstate highway, I’m sure you’ve seen the bright yellow “M” high in the sky on the shoulder of the road. I don’t even have to tell you what company I’m referring to—I’m sure you already know. Those golden arches are recognized around the world. When you see the “M,” you know what it represents. This unnamed company has invested an enormous amount of time and money to make sure you know who they are and what to expect of them. This principle is the same if you are traveling down the internet superhighway.
